Showing Compassion Through Cannabis to Help Our People Get the Medicine They Need

The Low Down on Medical Cannabis Cards

The People’s Medicine encourages BIPOC cannabis consumers to educate themselves on the benefits of being a medical card holder.

Contributing factors to low Numbers of cannabis prescriptions in the BIPOC community

If we pull ethnic data on individuals who hold medical cannabis cards we will find that they are overwhelmingly Caucasian.

Medical Card

Medical cards have associated costs and are acquired through prescriptions from primary care physicians.

Hospital
Black, LatinX and Indigenous people often are without quality healthcare and work multiple jobs which makes preventive care difficult. Most hospital visits are to the ER.
Pain

Historically and in the present day Black and LatinX people are thought to have a higher pain tolerance by medical professionals.

Propaganda
Due to propaganda Black, LatinX and Indigenous peoples’ consumption is publicly viewed differently.

Understanding the emotional trauma and financial loss caused by the disparate policy enforcement of the war on drugs, we owe it to ourselves to take advantage of all available relief.

Conditions Associated with Trauma Induced by the War on Drugs

•PTSD    •Anxiety    •Migraine    •Eating Disorders    •Insomnia    •Inflammatory Bowel Disease

“As we are in a patriarchal culture of ‘symptom addressing’ versus healing and curing, it is even more important that we re-educate ALL peoples of color of the many benefits of plant medicine including medical Cannabis. The true need to heal our bodies — symbolically in addition to literally is real and extremely crucial to our survival of this trauma based land of laws. Supporting and encouraging access to medical cannabis is a start. ”
